Black and white imagery is about form, contrast, and shadow. The relationship between form and light is much more pronounced, and their interactions with each other are what create the image. Shot in Wallace Falls State Park in Washington, the goal for Silhouette was to use nature and direct sunlight to emulate opacity. "Light" is felt through the near-transparent leaves that the sunlight goes through; and "heavy" is shown through the dark and dense trees and shrubs.
