Through in-person obervations, transit studies, and photo collages, we could begin to think about and design the framework for our co-op and the spaces we would be creating. Each group of two in our studio section was tasked with designing a workshop and residences for the various types of clients we were working with. With our clients being clothing designers, my partner and I decided to design a long workshop that bisected both residences. Named the Textile House, not only did this design strategy serve as a way of welcoming individuals into the plaza and vice versa; we also created a dynamic space that could be transformed into a runway, with 37th Ave serving as an outdoor public street theater.
